A theoretical and experimental framework for the formation of mixed anodic films on combinatorial aluminium-cerium alloys

Anodizing promises fast, cost-effective, and precise fabrication of mixed metal oxides from alloys complex chemistries compositions. Applicable to a whole class valve metals their alloys, this versatile method has found new dimensions its applicability unique combination non-valve in the quest finding applications. Hereby anodic passive films on Al-Ce thin-film combinatorial alloy library covering 1.5 10.5 at.% Ce phosphate buffer electrolyte having pH = 8.3 is demonstrated. Few nanometre thin dielectric were attained through automated localized anodizing using scanning droplet cell microscopy (SDCM). Electrochemical measurements suggest good correlation among composition, film thickness, relative permittivity as well resistance. It inferred that formation factor, k greater than unity stable growth compact composite attainable thermodynamic selection Gibbs free energy minimization criteria.
